Montreal is home to Canada’s largest and most established tango community, and Radiotango is, without a doubt, the city's tango ensemble most deeply rooted in traditional tango. Montreal dancers—both amateurs and professionals—love Radiotango for its truly danceable music and contagious energy.

Radiotango sets itself apart by showcasing the poetry of tango, brought to life by Damian Nisenson (originally from Argentina) a true Montrealer at heart.

The Festival DJs

Ayano Yoneda

Ayano travels frequently for tango, dancing in milongas around the world, including a pilgrimage she makes yearly to Buenos Aires. She regularly DJs at the local milongas in the San Francisco Bay Area where she is based. She has been invited to DJ in Asia and in Europe, as well as at major events in the United States such as the Portland Tango Festival, Nora's Tango Week, Holiday Tango in DC, San Diego Tango Marathon, etc,

In 2019, Ayano co-founded the Tango Poetry Project, (an online source for translated tango lyrics) producing two 45-60 minute capsules each week from March 2020 until June 2021. A true passion of hers, Ayano sometimes dj’s while synched lyrics are projected to her music, she also gives interactive lectures, all with the goal to bring attention to and raise interest in the poetry of tango.

Felipe Martinez

is a full-time tango dancer, teacher, DJ and organiser based in the San Francisco Bay Area. A DJ for more than 20 years, his musical selections are based on the Golden Age classics always ensuring a great atmosphere for dancing.

Felipe DJs at many of the most popular milongas in San Francisco, and has been invited to some of the most important festivals and marathons in the US. He has Dj'd extensively in Europe (Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Istanbul) and in Asia (Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Bali etc) and at the prestigious El Beso and Villa Malcolm Club Milongas in Buenos Aires on several occasions, and at several special events in Montreal including Bailongo 2023.

Felipe is co-creator of the ‘’Tango Poetry Project’’ an online resource for translated tango lyrics.

Viva Delorme

Viva began dancing in 2010 and is equally proficient in both roles. She was a pioneer figure in the Montreal Queer Tango community and instrumental in its development, co-organizing classes, as well as the Montreal International Queer Tango Festival.

In 2018, Viva began DJing as a way to contribute to the community and to deepen her own understanding of the dance.

Viva is one of the ‘‘house DJs at Studio Tango Montreal, and sometimes DJs at special local events. She has been invited to DJ at numerous international festivals (Buenos Aires, NYC, Miami, Berlin)

She dj’d last year at Bailongo and we are thrilled that she’ll be back again this year.

Fausto Carpino

Not only an internationally admired tango dancer and maestro, Fausto is currently a very sought-after tango DJ . Since 2008, he has been invited to Dj at major European festivals, marathons, and milongas in Europe, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Canada, and Argentina.

Avik Basu

A much sought-after DJ on the North American Tango Festival circuit, Avik is influenced primarily by the music and atmosphere of the milongas in Buenos Aires, and can seamlessly weave an evening of music that does justice to the tremendous range of emotions that tango can express. His wish is that the music of the milonga will have special meaning for everyone and that the dancers will float home with the tunes still playing in their heads.

Some of Avik’s most notable tango adventures include two month-long immersions in Buenos Aires, DJing Monday night at Salon Canning in BA, teaching tango to a Bollywood actress in Mumbai, India, and touring the U.S. with tango band Trio Folias.

No stranger to Montreal, Avik was a featured DJ at several of our past Bailongos, including last year’s edition. We are thrilled that he’ll be back again this year!

Marcelo Gutierrez

Professional tango dancer and maestro, Marcelo ‘‘El Chino’’ is also a most-liked dj!

From Argentina, he spends part of each year in North American teaching and djing locally in DJ and NY as well as at various other centres. His last visit to Montreal was a few year’s ago when he dj’d our night at the Nuit Blanche, we are thrilled to welcome him once again!

A dj with a great sense of ‘‘the crowd’’ his music reflects his very bubbly and dynamic personality - he is always a joy to have on any team!

Alexis Boileau

Alexis discovered Tango in 2013 - the same year he completed his doctorate music degree in classical piano performance. After a few years dancing in Montreal, he decided to create his own solo piano arrangements of his favourite tangos and perform them in different tango events. Then, realizing that not every venue has a suitable piano, he decided to swap his piano keyboard for a computer keyboard and became a tango DJ.

Alexis now has a residency at the weekly Montreal milonga Le bisou and is also part of the team at Studio Tango. Alexis is known for his energetic style and his ability to make a good read of the dance floor. He was also DJ at events such as Borealis Encuentro, Sonemos Marathon, Milonga Arrabalera, Milonga La Capital, and more.

Alexis dj’d at last year’s Bailongo and we are super happy to welcome him back again.
